Efforts to maintain the Sultan Adam Grand Forest Park (Tahura Sultan Adam) continue to be intensified by the park management in collaboration with the Forestry Agency of South Kalimantan Province. This initiative is part of an ongoing reforestation program aimed at restoring tropical forest ecosystems in Kalimantan.

Reforestation and Native Tree Planting
Covering over 112,000 hectares across Banjar and Tanah Laut Regencies, Tahura Sultan Adam is one of the largest and most significant conservation areas on the island of Kalimantan. With increasing threats from climate change and growing human activity around the park, forest maintenance plays a crucial role in preserving the environment.

In recent months, the park’s management has worked closely with local communities, nature enthusiast groups, and educational institutions to carry out tree-planting activities using endemic species such as ulin, meranti, and sengon. More than 10,000 saplings have been planted in degraded areas affected by wildfires and illegal land clearing.

Engaging Youth and Local Communities
A core focus of this program is the active involvement of youth and nearby communities in the reforestation process. Through educational programs and tree-planting initiatives with schools and surrounding villages, the project aims to build environmental awareness from an early age.

Additionally, a community-based conservation program is in place with an incentive system, where residents who help care for the planted trees receive productive seedlings, training in environmentally friendly agriculture, and potential opportunities in agro-tourism development.

Support from Government and Private Sector
This program is supported by various stakeholders, including the national government through the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, as well as several environmentally conscious private sector partners.

Through continuous and sustainable efforts, the park management hopes that Sultan Adam Grand Forest Park will become a successful model for tropical forest restoration in Indonesia and a leading destination for nature tourism and environmental education in South Kalimantan.
>
